2006 Scholarship Winners

The Scholarship Committee of the World Championship Musky Classic has the responsibility of selecting the recipient of the $4000.00 Ben Bendrick Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is given each year to a North Lakeland area student who will be attending an institution of higher learning.

The "Bendrick" Scholarship is funded partially from entry fees, contributions, and magazine revenues. Over the years many organizations have donated thousands of dollars to help our students attend the schools of their choice.

Recipients of the scholarship are selected by the Scholarship Committee and are based on several criteria. Key qualifications required of recipients include a determination and ability to succeed in their field, a financial need for assistance, a background of classes and activities that have prepared the student for the effort, and a sense of direction and purpose. Students are also required to maintain a specific grade point average and to report their grade point averages and schedules to the Scholarship Committee.

This year the Scholarship Committee awarded two scholarships to very worthy students. Due to the generosity of the Classic fishermen monies were available to extend the number of recipients yet again. We hope to continue this in the future as the number of registered fishermen grows.
